Operations Manager (FMCG)
Optimize Recruitment have been entrusted by a Carlow based food manufacturer to recruit an Operations Manager on a full time, permanent basis.
The core function of this role is planning, coordinating, organising, and controlling production. Responsibility involves ensuring high performance within production and continuously producing a high-quality product to exceed customer satisfaction.
As part of your remit, there will be undoubtedly a lot of cross functional work with sales, procurement, manufacturing, technical and logistics. The role requires strong leadership, team building, motivational, communication and people skills.

Roles & Responsibilities:
• Lead all reporting staff towards achieving the company vision whilst demonstrating personal adherence to company values.
•Fully maximise the plant management teams’ capability through effective leadership, established systems and processes being consistently applied and accurately measured against the business objectives.
•Drive a culture of continuous improvement using Lean Six Sigma methodologies with strong focus on daily and weekly KPI’s.
•Financial – Develop and justify all site operating and capital budgets. Monitor, analyse and report monthly operating results against budget.
•Ensure the production facilities are maintained and related occupied space to the highest level GMP and health and safety standards in the industry and ensure that the plant passes industry and customer audits and inspections
•Delivery of production values and targets utilising KPI tools with specific focus on optimal efficiency and labour rostering to optimise yields
•Ensure that the shift manager briefs the production team on the plans and that plans when implemented are fully achievable
•Ensure that all reports/documents/financial summaries/accounts necessary to run, measure and plan the business are performed to agreed deadlines and with requisite accuracy.
•Higher level qualification is desirable in one of the following areas, engineering, manufacturing, or food related discipline
•A minimum of seven years manufacturing experience
•Knowledge of engineering and technology principles and practices
•Extensive experience in people management and problem resolution
•Knowledge and experience of business, finance, and management principles
•Experience in both an SME and larger multi-national organisation an advantage
•Have already held direct line management for production, engineering, logistics, planning and factory cleaning staff
•Be familiar with HACCP. BRC, IFS and food manufacturing GMP standards

•Be a strong leader who can encourage others to take ownership and responsibility
•Be willing to challenge production/people/process, production methods and product recipes etc.
•Possess basic engineering understanding
•Possess strong business acumen
